About me

Ten things about me :

1. Fashion has always been my physical religion for life. For me, fashion is an artistic form of self expression. It has given me the confidence to walk with my head held high and to never look back. I have a passion for travel, cultural integration, history and architecture. Therefore, fashion is the best interpretation of my personal and cultural experiences. Kudos to Fashion.

2. I am from Malaysia and have been living in Santa Fe, New Mexico for five years. Although I would prefer to live in a big city, I have never seen as many stars as in Eldorado (the area where I live) and I never done as much as mountain hiking since I moved in here. I am not a big fan of New Mexican food!

3. I have travelled a lot domestically and internationally. My favorite city in the USA is San Francisco and I keep going back there for a coffee at Mission District and buying retro vintage garment at Haight Ashbury Area.

4. I have accounts on almost all of the social applications that exist on web because I am obessed with the internet and tweeting.

5. I enjoy karaoke (I think all Asians do :) and I sing romantic ballads from Celine Dion to hip/hop Timberlake songs. I know! Call me cheesy..I just enjoy all kinds of music.

6. I came from a poor family. My mom worked as a full-time seamstress and ran a food stall at the same time. My mother used extra fabrics from customers' orders and made me beautiful dresses. My mom put me in charge of buying the thread and trim complementing the fabrics because she trusted my eye for colors and texture. If she was exhausted to meet a deadline, my mom would ask me to cut the patterns.

7. My real name is Roslinda but no one can pronounce or spell it correctly. I used to have a driving license with the wrong spelling and when I tried to correct it, the receptionist at DMV said that "Its okay, I have seen a lot worse". Everybody called me Lynne in Malaysia and here except my family and my childhood friends. My family calls me "Indah" which means Magnificient in Malay.

8. I often get mistaken for being Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Guatemalan, Mexican, Native American, Philippino, Vietnamese, Thailand, etc. There was a time that I had to lied that I was a Chinese so I can pretend that I don't speak English. It worked!

9. I am the only daughter and I have 4 brothers. I have three amazing sisters in law that asked for my permissions before they married my brother. They also bought me a lot of gift as bribery :)

10. I have a degree in Advertising and Public Relations. I used to do brand marketing for a few multinational companies when I was in Malaysia. Sadly, I coudn't find a similar job in Santa Fe so hopefully my passion for fashion can become a satisfying new career!

Ciao,

Lynne
